This morning began as nothing out of the ordinary. I woke up a little before 5:00 AM. Jim had my coffee fixed. (That's a morning ritual that I have lovingly grown accustomed to.) We talked a little before he left for work, then it was the usual "going to work" kiss at the door. "Have a good day", "Be careful" and "I love you" was said as he walked toward the car repeating similar phrases to me.
I miss the morning routine with him when he isn't here. Very few times in our nearly 14 years of marriage has he not been with me in the morning. Occasional fishing or hunting trips, and three overnight stays in the hospital are the only times Jim was not here with me when I woke up. That is good. It makes me smile.
